UPDATE 1/6/2024 I'm already making headway developing this passion project. I have the premise and setting and am creating a very rough outline to follow for the progression of the story. It will have a set amount of chapters and once those wrap up, that arch is over. This first progression will act more to introduce the world through the story rather than offering you a sandbox world where everything is established and creating plots as we go along. I don't know if that makes sense, hopefully it does.

Will anybody like it? I have no idea. Will it be fun? I think so if you like this sort of thing! The gameplay will be a combination of D&D elements and longform rp, but I'm thinking of ways I can easily include script style rp as well!. Using rolls to decide on your character and aspects of them/strengths and weaknesses and using rolls to loosely decide story progression. You wouldn't be rolling each time you want to go look at something or perform some feat. You can and option would be there, but I'm looking to use it as a tool to build off of and give you a shred of an idea that can be taken and run with. I know for myself in rp sometimes I just have no idea what to do or say next. The rolls would be there to offer options.

AND BEFORE I FORGET TO SAY - ofc art will also be an optional rp element! I just haven't fleshed out how I want to structure that yet but it will have tons of art centric activity as well. Why this won't be a discord group: I can't afford nitro, and without it I don't really have the tools I'd need to make this thing easy to navigate. I have trouble reading words when they are so uniform and having so many channels cluttered on top of each other with no variation or color coding. With the forum format, I can design it how I want and use discord as more of a supplementary tool and not where everything takes place. Also I have enough discord groups. That's all I'll say, I included a little promo image to set the vibe. As of now, this will be the title of the game.

12/29/23 It’s been a long loooong time since I bothered uploading here, but there’s a lot of ‘old internet’ vibes on dA still even with all the changes and Im trying to cultivate them for my mental health lol

As the title says I’m wondering if anyone is interested in an old school forum rpg (thinking of feral horses cus I have a story I’m working on). I used to be in Starborn Alignment but never ended up RPing cus I was too shy and the scope of the story was too large/long to jump into for me. And now I hear they’ve been on a long hiatus anyway and I need to scratch my itch for storytelling. So, I wanted to start from scratch with my own group and story.

I also have different tastes in world-building than other available groups to join. I’m not much into high fantasy or super unrealistic scenarios or costumes. And I /don’t/ want to attach weird exclusivity to it in the form of a closed species, applications only being open 1 month out of the year or other ridiculous things of that nature.

My thinking is the group would be simple to join but would require an application process. Art of your characters would /not/ be required but you would have to be proficient enough in your writing to write detailed descriptions of them and to post. There will be a main arch in which your ocs can be a part of the larger story with mine and others’ characters and there will be opportunities to create your own spin-off storylines with others in case that’s too intimidating or you just want to do your own thing.

The vibe of the world im looking for is something very similar to things like Watership Down, The Sight, Firebringer etc where there’s heavy realism but the animals obviously are Anthropomorphized. The main difference to these would be the setting as there would be no mention of humans as they wouldn’t exist at the time being. im considering a kind of post apocalyptic setting where if they did exist it would be so far in the past they would not be relevant anymore. I’m also interested in adding elements of the supernatural - to a point. Because I like the atmosphere the unexplained creates. I’m sure I could go more into detail on this another day when I’m less certain I’m just talking to a void LOL

As of right now, the forum is made and I’m working on fleshing out all the necessary boards so It can be 100% ready the next time I update you all. If you have any questions about it feel free to post them here and I’ll answer as much as I can!

thinking I might post mostly my horse ocs/art here cus I'm on a kick. I miss being on here and know there's a lot of horse artists I enjoy still around and miss that community ;-;
